Situated on West Lake in a goldfish-shaped
island, Tran Quoc is like a lovely
pearl of the capital. Built in the 6th century with the initial name “Khai quốc”
(opening the country), after many times of restoration and renaming, this is
currently the oldest pagoda in 1000 pagodas in Hanoi. The name “Trấn quốc”
(protecting the nation) was named by King Le Hy Tong in the 17th century
